Sergio Perez topped the morning practice session in Monaco, marking a 1:12.487 on the soft compound (C5), followed by Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen.
A great session for Pierre Gasly in P4, followed by the two Mercedes drivers, Lewis Hamilton in P5 and Valtteri Bottas in P6. Lando Norris in P7, followed by Sebastian Vettel in surprise P8, Yuki Tsunoda in P9 and Kimi Raikkonen in P10, completing the top 10.
Outside the top 10, Nicholas Latifi managed to climb up to P14, just in front of Daniel Ricciardo in P15, who didn't seem to be doing that well in his McLaren.
It was a warm, sunny morning in Monte Carlo, with 19°C in the air and 38°C on track.
Fernando Alonso (P13) damaged his front wing against the wall at Antony Noghes, bringing a Virtual Safety Car out for a brief amount of time. Charles Leclerc (P20) didn't manage to get many laps in, as he had to retire his car, because of a gearbox issue.
