Lewis Hamilton has responded to Nelson Piquet calling him a racial slur during an interview.
Lewis Hamilton shared a statement on Twitter saying "It’s more than language. These archaic mindsets need to change and have no place in our sport. I’ve been surrounded by these attitudes and targeted my whole life. There has been plenty of time to learn. Time has come for action."
He then also went onto tweet "Vamos focar em mudar a mentalidade" which translates to "Let's focus on changing the mindset."
Mercedes and F1 have both also released statements saying that they condemn the actions and language of Nelson Piquet. Ferrari also shared F1s statement saying they support and stand by Hamilton and Mercedes against any form of discrimination.
The FIA also released a statement:"The FIA strongly condemns any racist or discriminatory language and behaviour, which have no place in sport or wider society. We express our solidarity with and fully support his commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in motor sport."
