Italian GP - Friday Roundup: Hamilton on top in FP1, Bottas in P1 for Saturday's Sprint Qualifying

FP1: Lewis Hamilton topped the first practice session of the Italian Grand Prix weekend, setting a 1:20.926, beating Max Verstappen by 0.452s, and leaving Valtteri Bottas in P3. Let's note that both Hamilton and Bottas set their fastest laps in the medium tyres, while Verstappen set his in the soft.

A very positive session for Aston Martin, with Lance Stroll in P4 and Sebastian Vettel in P6, splitted by the last Italian Grand Prix winner, Pierre Gasly. Carlos Sainz placed 7th in the first practice session of his team's home Grand Prix, while his teammate, Charles Leclerc, placed 11th. Completing the top 10, Fernando Alonso in P8, Daniel Ricciardo in P9 and Sergio Perez in P10.

Q3 Results: Valtteri Bottas locked P1 for tomorrow's Sprint Qualifying, leaving Lewis Hamilton in P2, followed by Max Verstappen in P3. The Finn managed to set a 1:19.555, beating Hamilton by 0.096.

McLaren met everyone's expectations, with Lando Norris in P4 and Daniel Ricciardo in P5, followed by Pierre Gasly in P6. Ferrari locked the 4th row of the grid for tomorrow, with Charles Leclerc in P7 and Carlos Sainz in P8. Completing the top 10, Sergio Perez in P9 and Antonio Giovinazzi in P10.


Eliminated in Q2: Sebastian Vettel (P11), Lance Stroll (P12), Fernando Alonso (P13), Esteban Ocon (P14) and George Russell (P15).


Eliminated in Q1: Nicholas Latifi (P16), Yuki Tsunoda (P17), Mick Schumacher (P18), Robert Kubica (P19) and Nikita Mazepin (P20).
