French GP 2022 - Qualifying: Leclerc strikes again! Another pole position for the Monegasque

Charles Leclerc scored yet another pole position, this time in French soil. The two Red Bulls complete the top 3, with Max Verstappen in P2 and Sergio Perez in P3.

Q1: Mick Schumacher put in a lap that would allow him to progress to Q2, but it was deleted, as he exceeded track limits. Haas tried to argue that he didn't cross the white line, coming over Schumacher's radio, saying "We are talking to race control. We are going to get ready to run, we are going to get ready to run right now". Stewards didn't reconsider, with Alex Albon taking P15, advancing to Q2. Eliminated in Q1: Pierre Gasly (P16), Lance Stroll (P17), Guanyu Zhou (P18), Mick Schumacher (P19) and Nicholas Latifi (P20).

Q2: Mercedes gave their fans a minor heart attack, as both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were out in Q2 when the chequered flag was waved, but both Brits were able put in a very tidy last lap, advancing to Q3 securely. Eliminated in Q2: Daniel Ricciardo (P11), Esteban Ocon (P12), Valtteri Bottas (P13), Sebastian Vettel (P14) and Alex Albon (P15).

Q3: Carlos Sainz, not interested in the hunt for pole position, went out on track with a used set of soft tyres, in order to help his Ferrari teammate, Charles Leclerc, giving him the tow in the last two sectors of the lap.

Charles Leclerc managed to place his Ferrari on top, using his teammate's help, and outperformed both Red Bulls, leaving Max Verstappen in P2 and Sergio Perez in P3.

Lewis Hamilton found some incredible pace in his Mercedes, finishing in P4, with his teammate, George Russell in P6, also performing very well, once again.

The Mercedes pair was splitted by Lando Norris in P7, putting in a very successful effort.

Completing the top 10, Fernando Alonso finished in P8, ahead of Yuki Tsunoda in P8, with Carlos Sainz in P9 and Kevin Magnussen in P10, who will both start tomorrow's race from the back of the grid, as we said earlier.
