It has just been announced that Lando Norris has signed a multi year deal with Mclaren for 2022 and beyond. The young Brit has been rewarded with the contract after very strong start to the 2021 season sitting 4th in the standings and with a podium finish to his name at Imola.
The signing comes after teammate Daniel Ricciardo revealed he had signed a 3 year deal with McLaren earlier in the year suggesting McLaren are looking for stability in its fight back towards the front of the grid.
Norris told F1.com: “I’m really pleased to have extended my relationship with McLaren from 2022. Having been with the team for almost five years, I feel very much part of the family here and I couldn’t imagine starting the next phase of my career anywhere else."
Zak Brown also shared his thoughts on the deal telling F1.com "I’m delighted with the extension of our agreement with Lando for 2022 and beyond. He’s been instrumental in our return of form here at McLaren and we’re proud of the growth he’s shown since he first started with us back in 2017."
Lando shared his thanks to Zak and the team for putting their trust in him for the future and bringing McLaren back to former glory fighting at the front of the field for wins and podiums every weekend.
