Theo Pourchaire understands the difficulty of trying to get an FP1 session with Alfa Romeo

F2 superstar Theo Pourchaire knows and understands the difficulty of trying to get an FP1 session with Alfa Romeo but has one condition.

Theo Pourchaire says he understands the difficulty of trying to get an F1 outing with Alfa Romeo but he doesn't want to participate on an F2 weekend. The young Frenchman is currently sat in 3rd in the F2 championship just a point behind American Logan Sargeant.

Pourchaire is currently a memeber of the Sauber driver academy and driving for ART Grand Prix in F2. He was expected to drive in this weekends FP1 session at Paul Ricard for Alfa Romeo but calendar changes for F2 means he will no longer take part in the session.

Talking in an interview he said, “To be honest, we didn’t talk about that with Fred. We try to talk only about F2, he told me to concentrate on F2.

“But I saw the interview, normally it was planned to drive in Le Castellet, but fortunately or unfortunately there is the F2 weekend now. It’s good to have my own race, but we will see in the future. “I can understand it’s difficult because it’s not easy, there are only two or three tracks where it’s possible maximum, but I know there is a Pirelli test, there are weather issues as well.

“Zhou is a rookie and Bottas needs to drive around Singapore, he didn’t drive there, Suzuka [which has been absent from the calendar for two years]. “I don’t think about that, to be honest, I prefer to think about F2 and I have something to win in F2 this year.”
