Lewis Hamilton on Max Verstappen breaking his records
With the form that Max Verstappen and Red Bull are showing right now Lewis Hamilton has shared his opinion on whether he thinks Verstappen and Red Bull can break his records.

While both Hamilton and Verstappen are often seen as world class rivals after their 2021 world championship battle on track the two have a lot of respect for each other off track. The Canadian Grand Prix saw Max Verstappen take his 41st career victory at the age of just 25. The 41st victory also meant he matched the great Ayrton Senna for F1 career wins which is a big achievment for any driver.
Afer the Canadian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton shared his opinion on Verstappen matching his heroes record. When talking to the media Hamilton said "Max has been doing an amazing job. He's had such an incredible career so far and he's for sure going to surpass Aryton Senna's records. We are working on getting the car to where it needs to be so we can slow him down."

"He's got a very long career ahead of him so absolutely Verstappen can eclipse my record of 103 race wins. Ultimately, records are there to be broken. And he's got an amazing team. But as I said, we've got to work harder to try and continue to extend it. I hope we get to have, at least within the last period of time in my career, some more close racing."
Verstappen was his usual self when it came to discussing him breaking records saying "Of course, to tie with Ayrton is something incredible. I'm proud of that. But I hope it's not stopping here. I hope that we can keep on winning more races."
Although Verstappen's reaction was expected his team principal Christian Horner believes that even though the young Dutch driver is "modest" the achievement will mean a lot to him. Horner went onto say that he believes Verstappen should now be mentioned in the same breathe as the F1 greats such as Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher and Hamilton.
With Verstappen still only 25 years old he still has a lot of his career to go and can expect him to break even more records in F1. However he has also said he wants to use some of his career to go off into endurance racing and compete in either WEC or IMSA where undoubtedly he can break more records there.
