Hungarian GP 2022 - FP1: Ferrari on top, Verstappen in P2

The first practice session of the Hungarian GP weekend is complete, and saw Carlos Sainz on top, followed by Max Verstappen in P2 and Charles Leclerc in P3.

With lots of traffic and many complaints by drivers, including Sergio Perez and Mick Schumacher, FP1 saw Ferrari manage a 1-3, with Carlos Sainz leading Charles Leclerc, split by Max Verstappen in P2.

Lando Norris finished in P4, followed by the two Mercedes drivers, with George Russell in P5 and Lewis Hamilton in P7. Sergio Perez, after a handful of sneezes, finished in P6.

Daniel Ricciardo finished in P8, marking another double top 10 appearance for McLaren, with the two Alpines completing the top 10, as last year's Hungarian GP winner, Esteban Ocon, lead birthday boy, Fernando Alonso.

After announcing his retirement yesterday, just ahead of the Hungarian GP weekend, Sebastian Vettel finished 11th, just ahead of his teammate, Lance Stroll in P12.

Special mention for Robert Kubica, who, subbing for Valtteri Bottas for this session, placed his Alfa Romeo in P19.
