Calderon returns to F2 replacing Bolükbasi at Charouz Racing

Tatiana Calderon returns to Formula 2 for the first time since, 2019 following Cem Bölükbaşi's contract being terminated with "mutual consent".

Following an exceptionally poor 9 rounds of his maiden Formula 2 season, Cem Bölükbaşi's contract with Charouz Racing System was terminated with "mutual consent". The Turkish driver was the first eSports driver to graduate to Formula 2, after 3 seasons of motor racing in other series, including Euroformula, Formula Renault and GT4 European Series.

Seeking for a replacement for the last 4 rounds of the season, Charouz Racing turned to Tatiana Calderon. The Colombian driver first made headlines back in 2019 for becoming the first woman to compete in F2 for BWT Arden. Calderon also served as Alfa Romeo's test driver from 2019 to 2021, before joining the IndyCar Series in 2022, where she scored a total of 58 points in 7 races.

Tatiana Calderon will be marking her return to the feeder series at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend, for the 11th round of the season. The Belgian circuit holds more significance to Calderon than simply being the track where she returns to the series, due to it being the place where her BWT Arden teammate, Anthoine Hubert, tragically passed away back in 2019.

"I’m really excited about my return to the Formula 2 Championship, I still can’t believe I’m back," Calderon said. "I'm very thankful to the Charouz Racing System and I'm really looking forward to this busy triple-header of races and beyond."

Antonin Charouz, Charouz team owner, said "We’re very happy to welcome Tatiana. We have been following her for a long time, she’s a very competitive driver and her experience will surely be really valuable for the team."
