BREAKING: Audi to join F1 in 2026
It was announced this morning that Audi will enter F1 in 2026, just ahead its expected collaboration with Sauber.

With the new engine regulations set for 2026, being confirmed by the FIA last week, Audi announced on a press release on the first day of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, that the company will join Formula 1 for the 2026 season, set up to link with Sauber.
This entry comes from multi-year talks, whispers and negotiations, but Audi didn't confirm which team they'd be partnering with. Audi will be accompanied by Porsche, joining the grid in 2026, with the latter one having bought 50% of Red Bull's stakes already.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1 said: "I am delighted to welcome Audi to Formula 1, an iconic automotive brand, pioneer and technological innovator.
"This is a major moment for our sport that highlights the huge strength we have as a global platform that continues to grow.
"It is also a big recognition that our move to sustainably fuelled hybrid engines in 2026 is a future solution for the automotive sector. We are all looking forward to seeing the Audi logo on the grid and will be hearing further details from them on their plans in due course."
Audi explored other options as well, before deciding to link with Sauber, Alfa Romeo's operating company, as it seems that Williams and McLaren were also two potential links.
The VW Group-owned company will see its engine being manufactured at their Neuburg plant, while the chassis will continue to be constructed in Sauber's site in Hinwil.
