Belgian GP 2022 - FP2: Verstappen on top, Leclerc chasing

The second practice session of the Belgian GP weekend is complete, with Max Verstappen finishing on top, followed by Charles Leclerc in P2 and Lando Norris in P3.

Rain hit the track towards the end of the session, but all drivers had enough time to complete their fastest laps on the soft compound, in the beginning of FP2. Some drivers like Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll opted for the wet tyre for the last 5 minutes of the session, putting in some reconnaissance laps.

Max Verstappen ended Friday on a high, topping the last practice session of the first day in Spa, followed by Charles Leclerc in P2 and Lando Norris in P3.

Lance Stroll continued his good performance from earlier in FP1, placing his Aston Martin in P4. Carlos Sainz finished in P5, just ahead of Lewis Hamilton in P6 and Fernando Alonso in P7.

Mercedes' youngster, George Russell ended the session with a P8 result, followed by Daniel Ricciardo in P9 and Sergio Perez in P10, completing the top 10.

Max Verstappen looks to be under investigation for a "practice start infringement", for a practice start he did after the end of the session.

Keep your eyes peeled for a complete news guide on everything that happened on Friday, entries, exits, penalties and more.
