Round 06 - Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix - May 19th - 21st

The constructions for the Imola Circuit, or Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, started in 1950, it was ready for testing in 1952, but racing began in 1953. It hosted its first official F1 championship race in 1980, the only Italian GP that didn't take place in Monza, while it was the home of the San Marino GP for 26 seasons, from 1981 until 2006. The track has two names, the one given after the Italian city it's located in, and the other after Ferrari's founder, Enzo Ferrari, and his son, Alfredo Ferrari.

The track is remembered for the tragic events of the 1994 San Marino GP, that's considered a very dark weekend for Formula 1, where Roland Ratzenberger suffered a fatal skull injury in a crash during Saturday qualifying, followed by Ayrton Senna crashing his car in a concrete wall on the 7th lap of Sunday's race, and dying in the hospital several hours later.
