History:

Aston Martin has a relatively short history in Formula One, having only recently returned to the sport. Here is a brief overview of Aston Martin's involvement in Formula One:

  • Aston Martin first competed in Formula One as a constructor in the 1959 season, but only entered a few races and did not achieve any significant success.

  • In the 1960s and 1970s, Aston Martin focused on endurance racing and other forms of motorsport, but did not compete in Formula One.

  • In 2020, Aston Martin announced that they would be returning to Formula One as a works team, having formed a partnership with Racing Point.

  • The team, which competes as the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team, made their debut in the 2021 season with drivers Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll. Vettel scored the teams first podium back in the sport at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, it turned out that podium was his last of his illustrious career.

  • As of the 2023 season, the team is still relatively new, but has shown a lot of promise early on. With Vettel retring in 2022, Fernando Alonso came into the team with hopes of a competitive car. Within the first 3 races of the season the team have scored a podium in each race.

Overall, Aston Martin's involvement in Formula One has been sporadic over the years, but their recent return to the sport has been met with excitement from fans. As the team continues to develop and improve, they look to be challenging Red Bull and Mercedes for race wins.
